WIN Two Tickets to In Search… at Bertha DocHouse
In Search… is a film about FGM directed by Beryl Magoko that will be screening at London’s Bertha DocHouse on 16 and 17 August. The film premiered at Dok Leipzig where it won the Audience Award – Leipziger Ring, and won Best Student Documentary at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
As a young girl growing up in Kenya, Beryl thought that all women in the world have to be circumcised by going through FGM at a young age; so she went through the ritual. Many years later, she learns about a new reconstructive surgery that promises to give back what was lost once. In this engaging first-person film, Beryl Magoko explores the emotional dilemma by talking to other women who went through similar experiences.
