WFTV (UK) Members Receive WIF LA Film Fund Grant
Women In Film Los Angeles has announced the recipients of the 32nd annual Film Finishing Fund. 370 feature-length narrative films, documentaries and shorts were submitted from 22 countries and 16 were chosen as grantees.
Amongst those selected was The Egg and the Thieving Pie, a short film written and directed by Lola-Blanche Higgins and produced by Reshma Makan, both WFTV (UK) members. The short is a magic realist film, in which a policewoman displaced from her own strange world investigates the theft of a mysterious egg.
Commenting on having her project selected, Lola said ‘We feel so privileged and excited to have the support of Women in Film LA. It will allow us to finish the film in the way we had imagined, which is a very special gift.’ Reshma added ‘I really hope this will inspire young and talented women to keep telling and making their stories and don’t let age, lack of contacts or experience hold them back. Thank you WIF LA and WFTV.’
