WFTV Members’ Short Films Make BIFA Longlist
Congratulations to WFTV members Fateme Ahmadi, Emma Parsons, Amelia Hashemi and Loran Dunn whose short films have made the longlist for this year’s British Independent Film Awards’ (BIFAs) Best British Short category.
The longlist contains 15 short films in total, representing the cream of the crop of UK shorts from the past year. Fateme Ahmadi and Emma Parsons made the longlist with Bitter Sea, an affecting depiction of the daily struggles of life as an immigrant in London; former WFTV mentee Amelia Hashemi is the director of Night Out, which centres around Meena, a 16-year-old Muslim girl, searching for self discovery and a sexual awakening; and another former WFTV mentee, Loran Dunn, is the producer of Luna Carmoon’s Nosebleed, a dark drama that follows the toxic disintegration of Lilah and Coby’s friendship.
The shortlisted nominees will be announced on Wednesday 31 October.
Good luck to Fateme, Emma, Amelia, Loran and all the filmmakers behind the longlisted films.
