Two former Mentees elected to the WFTV Board

We are delighted to announce that Mary Aldridge and Zeb Achonu – both former WFTV Mentees –  have been elected to the WFTV Board of Directors.

Mary (above left) is an award-winning producer with over 25 years’ experience in the industry and is currently Managing Director of Storm Pictures. Zeb (above right) is a freelance editor with almost 20 years’ experience. Their election to the Board will be confirmed at the WFTV AGM on Monday 10th July.

Mary Aldridge commented: “I’m a former WFTV Mentee and am passionately committed to the ethos and goals of this fantastic organisation. I’ve experienced first-hand the extraordinary power of collaboration – WFTV empowering us to dynamically shape our industry and our future. I’m a mother of four and an award winning producer with over 25 years’ experience. A former Head of Production, I have extensive experience of strategic development and policy implementation. Today, as Managing Director of Storm Pictures, my understanding of our industry’s challenges, particularly for women will, I believe, be of enormous value to the WFTV Board and its members.

“I am thrilled to have been elected to the Board of WFTV and very much look forward to working with such a fantastic team of women, shaping and implementing policy, in order to make a real difference in our industry”.

Zed Achonu said: “As an Editor with almost 20 years’ experience in Broadcast, I’m particularly interested in how changing roles throughout women’s’ lives affect our careers. My own role is technology based and I take pleasure in challenging expectations of me as a woman, woman of colour and more recently as a mother. What I love about working in this industry is that I get to collaborate and network with a wide range of people. I will enjoy further supporting and championing women’s positions in the industry, whatever our circumstances.

“I’m really pleased to be joining the WFTV board as I have found being a member of the organisation beneficial and inspiring, and I hope to be able to encourage similar experiences in other members.”

WFTV CEO Kate Kinninmont added: “We are delighted to welcome Mary and Zeb to the Board of Directors and look forward to the contributions they will make, drawing on their almost 50 years’ experience in the industry between them. It’s particularly pleasing that they are both former Mentees and shows how the Scheme helps to foster a sense of ownership and collaboration in those who participate in it – both in terms of their own career development but also how they can contribute towards the wider development of women across the industry.”
