Women in Film and Television (UK) presented the Elouise Carden Rising Star Award for Post Production in partnership with Viacom International Studios, at the WFTV Summer Party at Picturehouse Central, Soho; in partnership with Formosa Group on Wednesday 28 June 2023.
The Award, which recognises outstanding work by an early career woman working in post production, was presented to Daniela Rotaru, a Junior Colourist at Glassworks. As the winner of this award, Daniela will receive a £2,000 bursary which can be used for training, professional development and equipment to further her career in post production.
Daniela’s journey at Glassworks began as a runner, and she quickly became a colour assistant. After just two years of training, Daniela earned her place as a fully established Junior Colourist with her own grading suite. Known for her collaborative approach and attention to subtle detail, Daniela has developed her own unique style.
WFTV was delighted to bring back this award for the second year running, as the film and TV industry still has many roles where women are underrepresented, and that is particularly stark in post production.
Elouise Carden, who sadly passed away in 2020, was the joint Managing Director and Co-Owner of both Rapid Pictures and Radiant Post Production. Elouise was passionate about nurturing new talent in our industry, and in particular women working in post production. This award is in honour of Elouise and will continue the work she started.
WFTV CEO Katie Bailiff said,
"It’s a great pleasure to be able to shine a spotlight on an area of the industry where women remain unrepresented. This award recognises and celebrates the new generation of women who are coming up through the post production pipeline – Daniela, a junior colourist, is a true rising star and we’re delighted she’s this year’s winner."
Formosa Group, UK MD, Helen Alexander said,
“We’re thrilled to have partnered with WFTV and support their Summer Party for 2023. A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winner of the Elouise Carden Rising Star Award in Post Production, Daniela Rotaru. It’s great to see such amazing talent being recognised as the future stars of our industry.’
