About the Event

WFTV members are invited to this online panel discussion with development executives from the development fund – The Uncertain Kingdom. Development execs. Georgia Goggin and Isabel Freer  will be in conversation with host Jackie Sheppard.

After an overview of who they are and what they do, the panel will focus on their application process, along with any tips they can advise for filmmakers looking to fund their upcoming features and commission their shorts. They will advise what kind of projects they’re looking for, along with what mistakes to avoid when applying.

There will be an opportunity to ask the panel questions during the last 15 minutes of the session.

The Uncertain Kingdom supports filmmakers whose work interrogates British culture; asking who we are, how we got here and where we are going.

The Uncertain Kingdom funds the development of features and commissions short films.

Georgia Goggin

Georgia is a writer, director and producer. As a producer, Georgia works most often with writer/director Dionne Edwards. Their debut feature Pretty Red Dress was supported by BFI, BBC Film and The Sundance Institute and was released in UK cinemas in June 2023 to rave reviews. Georgia’s writing and directing credits include Bend which was funded by BBC Drama and screened at festivals including Encounters, London Short Film Festival and Underwire, where she was nominated for Best Director. She is currently writing a feature for The Electric Shadow Company and has created a TV series for The Development Partnership. Georgia is an Academy Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist and an alum of Sundance, EIFF and Rotterdam talent development programmes.

Isabel Freer

Isabel is head of development at Electric Shadow Company, where she oversees their slate of film TV and documentary projects. Most recently she exec produced Ed Lovelace’s critically acclaimed documentary Name Me Lawand. Isabel is also producing writer/director Isabella Wing-Davey's debut feature. Prior to this Isabel worked as a freelance development producer on a number of films including Love Wedding Repeat, Churchill, The Journey and the Teddy Pendergrass documentary If You Don’t Know Me. She worked in Los Angeles for several years as a production and development executive; her credits during this time include Manchester by the Sea, The Adjustment Bureau and Gus Van Sant's Promised Land.

How will the online event work?

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
