We’re joined by the experts behind The Future of Film 2020 Report; senior film executive Alex Stolz, Professor Sarah Atkinson and Professor Helen Kennedy who will be speaking about the findings and what we can expect for the future of filmmaking – from collaborative processes to new and fast developing technology. In the age of digital disruption, what is the best way to be keep up to date with the development of new technology and not be left behind? This session will help showcase the technologies and strategies transforming the business and art of storytelling and predictions for the future of the industry in a digital landscape.

Alex StolzAlex Stolz is Founder and Creative Director of Future of Film – the organisation dedicated to creating film’s future. You can discover more about Future of Film and our free resources available here.

Alex also serves as Head of Film for film-tech company usheru and previously held the role of Head of Distribution at the BFI.  Over the course of a two-decade career in film, he has also held senior roles at Picturehouse and the UK Film Council as well as consultancy for organisations including Viceland, British Council, Bogotá Audio Visual Market and Film London.


 Sarah Atkinson Sarah Atkinson is Professor of Screen Media at King’s College London and co-editor of Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies. Sarah has published widely on the impacts of digital technologies on film, cinema & media audiences and screen production practices & industries.



Helen KennedyHelen Kennedy is Professor of Creative and Cultural Industries at Nottingham University. Her current research interests are feminist interventions into digital games culture, live cinema and the broader ludification of cultural experiences. Recently she has been awarded further significant UK Research Council funding to investigate new technologies and new creative practices in immersive experience design.
