28th May 2020 18:00

Thursday 28 May | 18:00 – 19:00

Online via Zoom.us | Viewing details will be sent prior to the event

WFTV’s new series of tech focussed events is designed to offer practical advice and expert knowledge to enable you to deliver the best film or programme possible. The events will be particularly helpful for members working outside of these areas who want to learn more about how these departments operate.

Hosted by Emma Buttdubbing mixersound editorADR recordist and former WFTV mentee, each week we’ll hear from industry experts in different technical departments including Sound (both production and post), Editing, Grading, VFX, Animation and Post Production Management who will share with us ways to enhance your material, trouble shoot issues and best plan the workflow and delivery of your project.

This week, we are delighted to be joined by Vanessa Taylor, Senior Colourist

Vanessa Taylor, Senior Colourist, X2X Media, has worked for over 20 years on many prestigious projects across both film and television and on a global scale. Her career began in commercials at Animal Logic, after 8 years working as a Henry Artist/Online Editor at various studios, changes in technology brought her to the newly formed Digital Intermediate department at Park Road Post, which is where Vanessa discovered she fitted perfectly. A strong background in traditional photography, coupled with skills learnt during her early years compositing and editing allowed her to take full advantage of the creative opportunities offered by the digital colour grading process. Over the past 10 years Vanessa has graded more than 50 features and taught many up and coming Colourists on various platforms.

Some of the areas we will cover:

  • What to ask before you start working on your show
  • Workflow: What unique considerations does each department have?
  • Trouble shooting: What are the common problems, and how can they be avoided?
  • How to co-ordinate your project effectively between different technical departments

So whether you’re new to the industry or established in your role and want a better understanding of the technical journey your film or show takes, join us to hear from technical experts who will leave you armed with new knowledge to help you deliver your best.
