WFTV Legal Breakfast: Music in Film and TV hosted by Reed Smith

Come and join us for a light breakfast and an interactive session with legal practitioners at Reed Smith about Music in films and TV.

This session will cover:

  • Production music – what to know, how it works.
  • Commissioned music – how to avoid the most common pitfalls
  • Commercial music – what are the key points to look out for in a Sync agreement
  • A focus on SAG/AFTRA collective bargaining agreements – what does it entail?
  • Music rights and Youtube.

Croissants and hot drinks will be served from 9:45 am and the event will start promptly at 10:00 am.

Speakers

Sophie Goossens

Sophie is a digital media expert with over 10 years experience as Counsel to the media and technology industries. She spent over 6 years acting as business and legal affairs to the music industry. Today, her practice stretches from assisting  services in digital music, online video platforms, videogame, e-books, podcasts, imagery, AI, VR, blockchain and metadata to navigating the Digital Single Market Strategy and the intricacies of EU law. Sophie acted for the European Commission to moderate a cross-sector consultation about the Music Moves Europe program. She also lectures at Univerisité Paris XI on European and international copyright law. Sophie is Counsel in the Entertainment and Media Industry Group of Reed Smith. She works both in London and Paris.

Hunter Thomson

Hunter is an associate in Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media Industry Group. He advises clients across the music, digital media, film and television, fitness, and technology industries. He has experience in music licensing, commercial agreements, and production work, and has a particular interest in working with clients in the video games and esports sectors. Hunter regularly writes and contributes to articles on legal issues across the entertainment, media and technology industries.
