Kate Lush will be delivering the intimacy workshop on behalf of Ita O’Brien. It is aimed specifically for actors and directors.

Since 2014, Ita has developed and established best practice when working with intimacy, sexual content, and nudity for theatre and film, culminating in the Intimacy on Set Guidelines. These guidelines are now being adopted within the industry by leading studios and productions, including HBO, Netflix, BBC, ITV4, Amazon, Sky and many others. Ita’s recent work includes Gentleman Jack, Sex Education, amongst others.

With theatre, TV, and film demanding ever more nudity and sexual content, how do work to serve the production, and yet support the actor? Using film clips, Ita will elaborate on guidelines when working with intimacy and scenes with sexual content for actors, directors, and movement directors and also include some tips to be aware of from the auditioning process, rehearsals, through to performance or filming, The goal is to create a safe environment through the use of a ‘closed rehearsal room/set’.

Ita O’Brien, founder of Intimacy On Set, is an Intimacy Coordinator and Movement Director with an extensive career spanning over 36 years in theatre, TV and film. Ita has pioneered the role of the Intimacy Coordinator which is gaining greater prominence and shaping the future of the creative industry, and she’s also developing the next generation of Intimacy Coordinators.
