Alex Mahon to become first female boss at Channel 4

Alex Mahon has been named as the successor to David Abraham in Channel 4’s top job, making her the first woman ever to hold the Chief Executive role with the broadcaster.

Mahon has been Chief Executive of SFX firm The Foundry since 2015, and prior to that was Chief Executive of Shine Group. She will join Channel 4 later this year, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.

Mahon’s appointment comes less than a week after Channel 4’s Chief Creative Officer of seven years, Jay Hunt announced she will be leaving in September.
