Add your name to online petition calling for parental pay equality for self-employed

Earlier this year, we highlighted the Campaign for Parental Pay Equality, which is calling for shared parental pay for the self-employed, something which could have a significant impact for those working in the film and TV industries as many are self-employed.

The Campaign has now launched an online petition and we are encouraging WFTV members to back it.

Why is this important?

Self-employed parents are not eligible for Shared Parental Pay (ShPP). The current system of Maternity Allowance for the self-employed places the entire burden of childcare onto the mother, and offers no financial support for self-employed fathers or same-sex partners wanting to share childcare.

The Campaign organisers will also be part of the March of the Mummies on 31 October, which will take a number of maternity-related demands to government and is organised by international pressure group Pregnant Then Screwed.
